Gutter clearing and repairs in Wisbech

Gutters, hoppers and downpipes across Wisbech, PE13 and PE14.

Wisbech is a Georgian town with Georgian drainage: cast iron hoppers, deep parapet gutters behind the front elevation, and downpipes running through the building rather than down the outside of it. When one of those blocks, the water has nowhere to go but inwards.

Parapet gutters are the ones to watch

On the Brinks and around the North Brink terraces, the gutter sits behind a parapet where nobody can see it from the street. It fills with leaves and silt, backs up over the lead upstand, and comes through the top floor ceiling. By the time it shows inside it has usually been going on a while.

Cast iron is worth keeping

Original cast iron rainwater goods on a listed frontage should be repaired and repainted, not swapped for plastic, and on a listed building that is not our opinion but the rule. We can free off, reseal and repaint a cast run, and match a broken section rather than replace the lot.

What we do

  • Clear gutters, parapet gutters, hoppers and internal downpipes
  • Rod and flush blocked pipes rather than guessing where it is stuck
  • Repair and repaint cast iron, or replace in matching profile
  • Re-line a parapet gutter in code 5 lead where the old lining has split

What our customers say

★★★★★
"Re-roofed our semi in Gaywood. Quoted £8,900 including the scaffold and that is exactly what we paid. Found a rotten wall plate on day two, rang me from the roof with a photo and gave me a price for it before touching it. Rare."

★★★★★
"Ridge came off in the January gale. Rang at nine, somebody was here by two and it was sheeted before the rain came back. Proper repair done the following week."
Sue P. · Google
★★★★★
"Paid for the survey because I had two roofers telling me I needed a new roof. Report came back saying the roof had another ten years in it and the actual problem was the chimney flashing. Cost me £180 to save several thousand."
Andrew C. · Google
★★★★
"Very good work on the flat roof over the kitchen and a fair price. Only reason for four rather than five is we waited about three weeks to get started, though we were told that up front."
Helen W. · Google
★★★★★
"Our place at Heacham is about as exposed as it gets. They specified stainless fixings and clipped the whole perimeter, explained why, and it has been through two winters without losing a tile."
David & Jan R. · Google
★★★★★
"Chimney repointed on a listed house on the North Brink. Used lime mortar without me having to ask, which is more than the last lot did. Conservation officer was happy."
