Called at half seven in the morning after a north-westerly took most of the verge off the seaward gable. We were on site by ten, got the loose tiles down and sheeted the gable before the next band of rain.
The repair went in the following week: the whole verge run re-laid on dry verge units rather than re-bedded in mortar, stainless fixings, and the last two courses clipped back into the field. The mortar bedding was original and had been the failure point twice before.
Photographs of the damage went to the customer's insurer the same afternoon.
